Oh man, so Capcom, you know, that big Japanese company that does those video games I can’t get enough of — anyway, they just pulled in a whopping ¥45.5 billion! That’s like… $302.2 million? Give or take. Now, I have no idea why I fixate on numbers, but they’re kinda wild, right? All this in just three months till June rolled around.
So, here’s where it gets juicy: a massive 53.7% jump from last year. And it’s all thanks to their gaming stuff (officially called Digital Contents, but who’s keeping track?). They gave a shoutout to some of their big guns: Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil Village, the Resident Evil 4 do-over, and that punchy Street Fighter 6. Apparently, the Devil May Cry series got a boost from a Netflix anime. Never would’ve guessed that would happen!
Devil May Cry 5, on its own, has hit like 10.5 million sales. Imagine 1.7 million of those just flying off the digital shelves this last quarter. Meanwhile, Resident Evil Village, that spooky game, sits at 12.2 million units. And Resident Evil 4? Not far behind with 10.6 million. Street Fighter 6, for some reason, now at five million — could be the Nintendo Switch 2 hype? Maybe. Maybe not. Do I sound indecisive? Yep.
In a grand sum total of things, Capcom pushed out 14.16 million units — talk about a surge — that’s a leap of 48% compared to last year’s 9.53 million. Just bonkers.
And the real kicker? Their operating profit rocketed up by 90.8%! Which equals ¥24.6 billion… or $163.4 million, I think. I guess money makes the gaming world go round. Or whatever round thing it spins on.
