What’s Ahead for the Assassin’s Creed Series in 2025?

Ubisoft has certainly faced some turbulent times over the past year. Even with its strong brand reputation, games like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, released last December, seemed to fade from memory almost instantly. Skull and Bones turned out to be less than what fans anticipated after eight long years of waiting. The cancellation of The Division Heartland and the disappointment surrounding Star Wars Outlaws only added to the challenges. Moreover, the company had to let go of over 700 employees, including some from the successful Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown team. Right now, more than ever, Ubisoft is banking on the success of Assassin’s Creed.

The upcoming highlight for the franchise is Assassin’s Creed Shadows, originally slated for a November release. Set in the intriguing Sengoku period of Japan, players will navigate a sprawling open-world environment as they switch between the dual protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke. Apart from Shadows, Ubisoft has a slew of Assassin’s Creed titles brewing. One of these, Assassin’s Creed Jade, is set to be a mobile-exclusive game that journeys back to 3rd Century BC China. Players will get a unique experience as they create custom characters, a first for the series, and fend off the nomadic Xiongnu tribe. Originally planned for a 2023 release, Jade has now been postponed, with expectations set for 2025.

Assassin’s Creed: Hexe, announced in 2022, has remained a mystery for over two years. It’s rumored to have a dark ambiance set during the 17th-century witch trials in the Holy Roman Empire. Expectations are high for a major reveal in 2025.

On the multiplayer front, not much is known about Assassin’s Creed: Codename Invictus, rumored to be a live-service experience. Despite the lack of detailed information, a teaser might be on the cards for 2025, likely during Ubisoft’s annual event.

Meanwhile, there’s talk of Assassin’s Creed Infinity, now known as the Animus Hub. This upcoming live-service platform is set to be the new home for Assassin’s Creed games, possibly launching in tandem with Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

In the world of remakes, speculation has been rife about an Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake. Though there’s been no official word, insiders suggest a potential reveal in the next year, especially as fans eagerly hope for it.

Amidst all these developments, the excitement for Assassin’s Creed Shadows continues to build. Set in a tumultuous period of Japanese history, players will dive into breathtaking landscapes, juggling the stealth skills of Naoe and the combat strength of Yasuke. Whether it’s recruiting new allies, crafting gear, or customizing a hideout, Shadows promises an engaging storyline that offers both challenge and adventure.
