So, here’s the thing about The Invisible Hours. I stumbled upon some news about it, and it’s like, whoa — the game’s creator, Rob Yescombe, just got his rights back. Yeah, he’s thinking about remastering it for those fancy new VR headsets, maybe even turning it into a TV show or movie. Seems like a pretty wild ride is ahead.
Hollywood Reporter spilled the beans on Yescombe’s hunt for partners to bring this VR gem to screens. It’s probably one of those “trust me, you’ve never seen anything like it” deals. Agatha Christie and Clue vibes all over, right? You sneak around a mansion on some out-there island, piecing together a murder mystery. No playing as a character, just a fly on the wall rewinding time. Who killed Nikola Tesla? Classic.
Launched back in the VR dark ages of 2017, before anyone’s gran had a headset, it was a hit on PC and PSVR. Tequila Works, the folks behind it, were all set to get it onto Quest in 2020, but then poof — they closed in 2024. Sad trombone.
But Yescombe’s back in charge now, declaring this baby’s ready for a glow-up, as he calls it. “Prime candidate for remaster,” he passionately claims. People still hit him up to praise the game, and honestly, it sounds like it means a lot to him. Feels kind of good to have a project that sticks with you like that, you know?
Since The Invisible Hours, Yescombe’s dabbled in all sorts of gaming stuff. Wrote for Twilight Zone VR and Arizona Sunshine 2, and even got involved with some flat game called The Precinct. He also chipped in on that Netflix thing, Outside the Wire, and a few other bits and bobs with big names like Alien and Family Guy. Quite the resume, huh?
Anyway, I’m curious where this goes. A remaster, a movie… or maybe we just dream big? Who knows.
