Sure thing, let’s dive in with a splash of chaos, as if we’re sitting on a couch talking about it.

So, August 12th was kinda a big deal for Subnautica players. Unknown Worlds decided to roll out these updates for both Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero. I mean, sure, they squashed some bugs—who likes bugs, anyway? But here’s the kicker: they added controller support for Subnautica on Steam and Epic Games Store. Finally, right? It’s like, why wasn’t this a thing already?
Oh, and picture this: you’re above the water, and bam, you see those Sea Treaders stomping around. No idea why I noticed this, but it stuck with me. Anyway, back to updates…
Now, there’s been drama—big drama. Unknown Worlds had this whole leadership shuffle. I know, office politics, yawn. But the ex-leaders, Charlie and Max (sound like a detective duo, don’t they?), tossed a lawsuit at Krafton. They were like, “Hey, where’s our $250 million bonus?” because Krafton apparently delayed Subnautica 2. Juicy stuff that. Krafton’s all formal now in a Delaware courtroom. Must be thrilling to be there.
Meanwhile, controllers! Yep, we can now plug in a PS5 DualSense or Xbox Wireless—because, duh, we’d want to be comfy while swimming around those alien waters. And thanks to some Unity magic, we won’t be facepalming over bugs that freeze the game when you least expect it. Ever had that happen? Super frustrating. It’s like stepping on a lego—unexpected and annoying.
Now on to Below Zero! The Snowfox—think of it like your rad ice motorbike—was having some hiccups. I don’t get why tech can’t ever just work. Like, what’s the point of having tech if it throws a tantrum every now and then? They fixed how the Snowfox collides with stuff and some other mechanical nitty-gritty. Plus, now there’s this news feed pop-up thing so we won’t miss any earth-shattering announcements from the devs. Not updated on Switch though. Maybe Nintendo likes keeping us on our toes…(or they just forgot? Who knows.)
And yeah, Subnautica 2 got pushed to 2026. Long wait, but hey, more time to enjoy the first two games, right? To sum it up? Chaos and controllers. Feels like every update nowadays is just chaos and controllers.
That’s how the cookie crumbled—er, the seaweed floated this time around.
