Okay, so I stumble onto this announcement from Bigscreen—yeah, they’re the ones making those snazzy VR headsets again. Or rather, they were supposed to, but everything got delayed. Classic, right? Anyway, they just said, “Hey, we’re finally shipping the Beyond 2.” I can almost hear the collective sigh of relief from pre-order folks who probably thought their headsets were lost in some kind of tech limbo.
Remember when they promised they’d ship these on time? Ha! That’s like saying I’ll start my diet next Monday. Sure, Jan. Now they’re hustling to sort through pre-orders and say they’ll be catching up through August. Believe it? I won’t hold my breath. But they mention something about expecting new orders to arrive between August and September, with more in late September. Ambitious, aren’t they?
Now, here’s where it gets spicy. So Beyond 2 has a sibling—the Beyond 2e. Fancy, right? Comes with eye-tracking. Nerd alert. Regular Beyond 2 costs $1,019 and if you want the eye-tracking, it’ll set you back $1,219. And by “you,” I mean, not me, because my wallet said nope.
Oh, and they brag about pre-orders. Apparently first-day sales beat the pants off their old model, Beyond 1. Like, seriously crushed it. More in 24 hours than in four months before. Show-offs. They’re beefing up their production in LA now—hiring more hands, sending engineers across the pond to make sure things go smoothly. Guess they really don’t want to mess up again.
For those, like, extras you can throw on? If you snagged some custom-fit cushions earlier this year, expect them by mid-August. And, halos (not the game, unfortunately) might come out in late September or October because, surprise, more delays.
And hey—if you’re one of those who ordered the Beyond 1, they’re upgrading you to Beyond 2 since, obviously, you’re still waiting. They better make it snappy!
Oh, almost forgot—so in April, they’ve sworn no price hikes on the headset ’cause of tariffs. Thanks, U.S.-China drama. But hey, Bigscreen’s sticking to that promise. Wild, huh?
Anyway, that’s the tea. Or coffee, if you’re more into that.
