Sure, let’s take a wild ride with this one:

You ever have one of those days where something big just drops, and you’re left sorting through the mess of details to see what sticks? Well, that’s exactly what Capcom threw at us with the new Title Update 2 for Monster Hunter Wilds. I caught the June livestream—well, most of it. I might’ve zoned out for a minute when they went into the nitty-gritty. Who can blame me, right?
First off, mark your calendars for Monday, June 30. That’s when this update hits, though heads up, the game will go offline for some tinkering before you can dive in. Funny how they announce these things and then take the game down. Kinda like saying dinner’s ready and then hiding the forks.
Now, the big kahuna of this update? New monsters. We’re talking Lagiacrus and Seregios. Lagiacrus—oh man—brings underwater combat. Yep, underwater. If you’ve done the main mission, A World Turned Upside Down, and have hit Hunter Rank 31, you’re good to go. If not, well, might be time to grind. Who even likes water levels anyway? But hey, here we are.
And Seregios—same Rank 31 requirement. Oh, and they both come with new armor sets. There’s a bonus for the fashion hunters out there! And if you’re itching for a challenge, Tempered versions of these beasts are lurking for those with HR 41 or above. Eight-star madness, if you ask me.
Speaking of madness, there’s an Arch-tempered Uth Duna variant coming. July 30, folks. It’s part of some Event Quest thing. Gotta be HR 50 to take it on. More gear to craft if you’re into that sort of thing. Honestly, I feel like I’m stockpiling for an apocalypse sometimes with all this loot.
Layered weapons are a thing now. You get to slap a favorite look on whatever weapon stats you’re rocking. But there’s a catch (isn’t there always?). You need to max out a weapon, plus there are these Rarity 8 Artian Weapons, blah blah—okay, I got a bit lost in the details there. Bear with me.
Hold up, you can swap your main handler to Erik from Alma. Why? Maybe Erik’s got better jokes, or maybe his cooking’s just that much worse—it’s anyone’s guess. And extra support with a hunter wielding a sword & shield. Sounds like backup for my backup.
Oh, oh! There’s some seasonal event —Festival of Accord: Flamefete—running July 23 to August 6. Seasonal stuff always sneaks in somewhere. Pretty sure they just want to keep us entertained with new armor and fancy camp decor. Also, some special meals at the cantina. I’m more the grab-and-go type, but some of you might like that fancy stuff.
And wait, there’s a Title Update 3 coming this September. New monsters, another Festival of Accord—you get the idea.
Wilds, though, it’s in a bit of a rough spot. I heard the player count’s taken a nosedive on Steam. Worse than Monster Hunter World back in 2018. Overwhelmingly Negative reviews can’t be the best bedtime story. But maybe, just maybe, TU2 will turn things around a bit.
So yeah, that’s the lowdown. Or, well, the chaotic rundown from my seat. Let’s see where this ship sails next.
