Ugh, so there I was, just minding my own business and this thing called the Delta Force Technical Test pops up. Yeah, it’s happening right now. Like, if you’re into first-person shooty games, well, grab your Xbox Series X|S and dive into the Xbox Insider Playtest. It’s live, and apparently a big deal.
So, here’s the low-down on the game. It’s called Delta Force. Ever heard of it? It’s a free-to-play tactical shooter—apparently the “ultimate.” Anyway, launching on August 19. So you’ve got three main modes here: a high-stakes 32 vs. 32 PvP mode called Warfare, this snazzy new next-gen thing called Operations, and—wait for it—Black Hawk Down. Yup, a campaign mode or whatever.
But okay, let’s break it down. You basically get slapped with all three experiences in one. Big battles, extractions, and some cinematic nostalgia. I mean, who thought of this? Whoever it was, nice that they combined the old with the new.
One account, three battlefronts. Share your progress over PCs, consoles, and phones. And yes, cross-play is a thing. I could be playing against some random desktop gamer from who-knows-where. Meh, sounds sorta cool.
And what’s the catch, you ask? None, it’s free. Like, completely. You get 10+ Operators, 10+ maps, and a stack of rewards. Free stuff is always good.
But the clock’s ticking! The playtest kicks off Wednesday, July 16th at 6 PM PT. Runs till the weekend. Mark your calendar, or don’t. Whatever. Just be in Canada, Mexico, or the States to join.
Wanna join in? Do this Xbox thing: log in, hit the Xbox Insider Hub, and, you know, click a few buttons. Get in while you can because it’s first-come, first-served. Not everyone gets to play, sorry!
And if stuff breaks while you’re playing, there’s a weird way to report it. Hold down a button, fill in some stuff. Because, you know, they need your feedback. I guess they care? Maybe.
Need to chat with fellow gamers and rant about the game? There’s a Discord for that. Also, they’ve got more info on a newsletter, or blog, or urgh, check their Twitter/X, whatever that’s called now.
There, I spilled the beans on Delta Force. Now it’s up to you to decide if it’s worth your time. Or just keep scrolling through Twitter. Your call.
