Sure thing. Here goes:

So, here’s the deal with the Nintendo Switch 2. Developers are already like, “Whoa, hold up, this new console’s hardware has limits!” Kind of a bummer, right? So, this guy, Kazuya Takahashi, the big kahuna behind Donkey Kong Bananza, had a chat with Spain’s La Vanguardia. And yeah, he’s spilling the beans. Apparently, the game might slow down, all thanks to this crazy 3D voxel stuff they’re using to make things explode and crash in the game. Like, big admission time! They’re going for fun over performance, he says. Priorities, I guess?
There’s this whole video that we’re supposed to be excited about. Truly, I’m more interested in why my coffee tastes like caramel today.
Anyway, Donkey Kong Bananza — first time in 3D since forever! Originally for the old Switch, but too cool for those bricks. So, they pumped it up for the Switch 2. We’re talking destructible worlds, people — where DK goes all “Hulk smash!” on walls, digs his way around, and tears down bits and bobs to use. Sounds like a blast but—plot twist—the engine running this madness is a beast. Which is why it’s being served up on the new console.
So, this La Vanguardia person poked at Takahashi about the game occasionally having the jitters. His response was like, “Oh, we meant to do that. Sometimes slow-mo is cool! But yeah, when the world’s like, all destructo, it can lag a bit. But, hey, mostly smooth sailing. We made the fun parts fun, okay?” Did I paraphrase too much there? Sorry, got distracted.
You might notice a few hiccups when the Switch 2’s little engine gets tired. We’re crossing fingers that updates will smooth this out. But patience isn’t just a virtue here, it’s a necessity.
Oh, by the way, remember Comanche: Maximum Overkill on PC from, like, the Stone Age — 1992? That was voxel-powered too. Yeah, and built in assembly language. Nerdy, right?
Anyway, mark your calendars ‘cause this new Donkey Kong adventure drops Thursday. Which, wait, is that July 17th? Nope, no idea why I remember dates randomly.
