Totally random thought — did anyone else randomly think you could just jam an NES game into a Super Nintendo and, like, magic would happen? BBC sure seemed to think so. Anyway…
So, welcome to chaos in the Nintendo world. Yes, Donkey Kong’s all the buzz — I’m betting we’ll hear “Bananza” jokes till our ears fall off. But hey, if Donkey Kong suddenly took up gardening, I’d read that review. Maybe I should take a break from my Spyro obsession. Oops, distracted again.
Though, there’s something quirky — no wait — bonkers about a Pac-Man exploration platformer. Seriously, what committee thought, “Hey, let’s combine Pac-Man and existential wandering!” Apparently, the news team, that’s who! Totally still debating if this hits harder than Montreal in “Shadow Labyrinth.” Oh, if you’ve got it on Switch, the upgrade’s free.
Speaking of things the universe decided needed to confuse us, there’s a new ArcSys fighter game, “HunterxHunter NenxImpact.” Big deal, right? From the “Dragon Ball FighterZ” people. Worth a shot or a complete mind boggle.
And some nostalgia for you: “Neverwinter Nights 2,” revamped but… no trackball for the Golden Tee games? That’s just sacrilege, my friend. And here’s a trip — a new publisher popped up for the old school RPG “God Wars.” Who knew?
Last week’s brain farts — yeah, I mean highlights — included “Super Dimension Fortress Macross II.” Oh, and an Australian Rules football video game snuck past us. No official licenses (yawn), so don’t bet on seeing a St. Kilda vs. Gold Coast Grand Final.
Hold up — check this out: “Pineapple: A Bittersweet Revenge.” Willems talked it up, an indie, grungy kind of deal. Priced at your typical coffee, except in Canada where it’s like, your whole month’s rent. Seriously, who makes these rules?
And just like misplaced bookmarks, here are some prices in North America for your favorites — “Donkey Kong Bananza” is going for seventy bucks in the US or a hundred Canadian loonies. Meanwhile, “Pac-Man: Shadow Labyrinth” at thirty and forty? Math, whatever. Switch up your gaming vibes with “HunterxHunter Nen Impact” for fifty-nine bucks US — random Tuesday delight.
Or maybe grab “Golden Tee Arcade Classics” — relive that arcade itch, but without the sticky floors. That’s a bummer…
Let’s jump to Europe. Same dance, different tune: “Donkey Kong Bananza” for seventy euros or fifty-nine pounds. Though “Pac-Man,” that maze maniac, pinging at thirty euros got me chuckling — available by Friday if you’re keen. And oh, “Bustafellows Season 2,” reminds me I should binge more crime dramas.
Japan – SWITCH ON – Donkey’s back and it’s ¥7980 — roughly the cost of a fancy sushi dinner. “Pac-Man” also joins the (cook)books with a cozy price tag of ¥3960. And if you’re in a mood for a downbeat jaunt, “HunterxHunter NenxImpact” goes ¥8360 strong. Golden Tee sounding like nostalgia printed at ¥3400.
And with that, my list’s done. Now, headphones on, “Another Crab’s Treasure” is on sale ’til August 2. Gotta love those crustaceans.
