I remember trying that original Pokémon Scarlet & Violet on my Switch. Man, it was like trying to drive a sports car stuck in first gear. You know, the kind of game that makes you want to pull your hair out because it’s so darn good, but then—bam!—it starts glitching. I swear, those windmills looked like they belonged in a retro game. Ugh, it bugged me so much.
Anyway, fast forward to now—three years later or something like that—there’s this new update for the Switch 2. I was like, “Okay, yeah sure,” but then The Pokémon Company actually let me test it out. And let me tell you, it’s like someone flipped a switch (pun intended?). I’m not even kidding. The difference is something you can actually feel.
So, you ever have those friends who say, “Oh, frame rate’s no biggie?” Well, try getting them to play the old version then switch to this updated one. Bet they’ll change their tune faster than you can say Pikachu. (Joe from Serebii gets it, too—he’s got some preview vid, check it out if you want.)
And oh man, now the graphics? Sweet and crisp as morning toast. There’s no more of that weird lagging when all you want to do is appreciate the scenery. The Pokémon aren’t doing awkward slide shows anymore. Thank goodness!
It’s like jogging in a park without those sudden stops that make you trip over your own feet. Before, the vibe was all off when you’d turn the camera and everything would go haywire. Now? Smooth like butter. Zip around the open world and enjoy it—finally.
Let’s not forget, the Pokémon actually appear normally now. That extra second they took to pop up? Buh-bye. And those confounding menus that could cause a person to age a year just waiting for them? Snappy as ever. It’s weird how little tweaks like this start to matter so much.
Not saying it’s perfect. Like, they’ve got this thing where you’re cruising along, and the flowers and stuff appear out of nowhere—what’s up with that? And yeah, the art style itself might need some love, but at least the new tech doesn’t hide its flaws.
So, here it is. This update basically makes it the game it always should’ve been. Feeling kinda nostalgic just thinking about how much better it is now. Almost like playing something you shouldn’t because it runs so smoothly. Definitely more pumped for whatever they’ve got next, though. Pokémon Legends Z-A or something? Can’t wait to see what they’ve cooked up this time around.
