Blizzard recently unveiled a blog post that gives us a peek into their upcoming interior decoration system with several in-engine videos. These clips reveal how players can arrange furniture within a grid system, complete with a feature that allows items to snap neatly into place. Imagine placing a sizable bookshelf or dining table and then adorning it with smaller decorative objects that move in unison with the main piece. However, it’s important to note that the content shared focuses solely on interior decoration within a single room. Blizzard also emphasized that this project is still under development, which means the user interface could undergo changes before its final release.
For those who prefer ease and speed, the Basic mode offers a straightforward way to organize furnishings. But if you’re keen on experimenting, the Advanced mode gives you more freedom, such as clipping furniture or rotating items along all three axes. This mode would be perfect for ambitious designers wanting to craft unique living spaces, using creative ideas to clip and position objects just right.
Excitingly, players will also have the option to resize furniture. This feature is especially useful given the diverse range of character models, like the need for a gnome to have a cozier setup than a robust Tauren might prefer. Additionally, Blizzard has shown that some furniture items, particularly those designed specifically for player housing, can be recolored. However, not all models will offer this flexibility, particularly older ones reused from prior assets.
While the current focus is on interior design, Blizzard made it clear that the exterior of a house won’t restrict the possibilities within. So whether you fancy a mansion with a minimalist interior or a tiny cottage bursting with rooms inside, the choice is yours. They’ve hinted at even more features and updates to come, saying they’re eager to spill the beans in due course.
At the moment, World of Warcraft enthusiasts are exploring the new 11.3 patch, dubbed Undermine(d), set amidst the bustling centers of the goblin cartels. Although the Midnight patch is further down the line, Blizzard frequently shares sneak peeks of upcoming content. BlizzCon, known for its big announcements, is set to make a comeback in 2026. Personally, I’m thrilled about these glimpses into player housing and am curious about potential locations — I’d love to stake my claim in Grizzly Hills for its serene atmosphere.
