So, there I was, watching this trailer that Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio dropped at Summer Game Fest 2025. They’re now calling it “Stranger Than Heaven.” At first, I thought it was gonna be some early-20th century detective drama. You know, all moody and stuff. But this new trailer? It’s like L.A. Noire crashed into their world.
This detective guy, Mako Daito, struts around a flashy city. He’s poking into mysteries like he’s on a mission from the cosmos or something. And this city… it’s wild. People are just lost in the glitzy nightlife, clubs with too much glitter, street fights that break out over who-knows-what, and those neon lights that make your eyes buzz. So yeah, they’re diving deeper into survival stuff this time. There’s this shot where Mako lights a cigarette, and suddenly, this warning pops up: “Draws immense hostility when smoking.” Makes you wonder if smoking really does rile up the wrong folks, right? Plus, he’s keeping track of hunger and thirst like he’s in some kinda life-or-death scavenger hunt.
Anyway, there’s this moment where Mako meets this American guy who’s all puzzled that Mako’s Japanese. And Mako, the poor guy, gets all existential about losing his way. Classic Yakuza drama vibes, but everything’s amped up.
Oh, and there’s this whole theory about the “Project Century” bit. The story’s supposed to stretch across the century, at least that’s the buzz. But RGG Studio’s all hushed about it. They even said not to bother guessing what’s going on. Typical, right?
They’re aiming for a 2026 release. So we’ll see how this all plays out.
