Hey, so the Nintendo Switch 2 is out — and someone couldn’t resist cracking it open right away. Crazy, right? This YouTube channel, ProModding, was all over it. They popped that sucker open right away and took a real close look. I mean, who does that?
Anyway, they started by unscrewing things at the bottom. Who knew there were screws behind the kickstand too? Pretty wild stuff. Once you get those screws and clips off, bam, the back cover’s gone just like that. And there’s metal shielding all over, which ProModding just took apart without breaking a sweat after dealing with the antennae.
Then, they took out the cooler and battery — I imagine it being this precise operation — and managed to yank the motherboard out. As they peeled off the thermal paste and more shielding, guess what? There it was, a brand-new shiny Nvidia chip showing off the name GMLX30-A1. Sounds like something out of a sci-fi flick.
Oh, and if you wanna get all nerdy and check out every single IC on the board, ProModder’s got you covered. They gave the whole thing a thorough look-see with a microscope. Yep, a microscope!
But here’s the kicker — you probably don’t wanna try this at home. Unless you’re cool with voiding your warranty and risking wrecking your console. I mean, nobody wants their shiny new gadget to end up as an expensive paperweight, right? Especially since those clever folks over at Nintendo updated their terms, making it pretty clear they’re not game for any hacking around. They could even turn your device into a very fancy doorstop if you mess with it. Yikes.
Nintendo’s probably got a manual for this stuff, but who am I kidding? Those are locked up tight for their techs until, like, whenever it officially hits the market on June 5. So until then, we’ve got these YouTube modders to keep us entertained — or stressing out. Whatever floats your boat.
