I saw this thing the other day — someone got iOS on a Nintendo Switch. Yeah, wild right? This person, PatRyk on X (or whatever they’re calling Twitter now), claims it’s the “world’s slowest iPhone.” Ha! Apparently, takes 20 minutes just to boot up this Frankenstein machine, and nothing works once it’s on.
So, while everyone’s abuzz about the Switch 2, PatRyk dives in to install Apple’s mobile OS on the old Switch. Talk about patience, right? I mean, imagine waiting ages for it to boot, praying it doesn’t hang up or crash. But hey, maybe they love the challenge — or just have a lot of free time.
Running apps? Don’t get me started. They crash faster than I can say “kernel panic.” It’s like a cursed device in its current state. You gotta wonder, did they ever think, “Why am I doing this?” But, you gotta admire the sheer randomness of it all.
Anyway — wait — technical stuff! They used something called QEMU, which I totally don’t understand. It’s some emulator thing made for Apple Silicon. They found it on GitHub. Props to them for wrestling with locked-down iOS and getting it to sort of behave on the Nvidia Tegra X1 — yes, I Googled it.
Will they keep at it? Who knows? Maybe they’re off to another project. But they promised more madness, so I guess we’ll hear from them again. Stay tuned, folks!
