Oh man, where to start with this? So, I was scrolling and saw that Beat Games decided to hit the pause button on updates for Beat Saber. You know, that game where you basically slash at blocks to the beat? Yeah, that one. Apparently, if you’re jamming out on PSVR or PSVR 2, don’t expect any fresh tunes or features coming your way anymore. Kind of feels like when your favorite band decides to only tour in Europe, leaving you with nothing but Spotify playlists. No idea if they’re aiming for a swan song or something bigger, but they’re talking about some “next big leap.” Whatever that means.
Anyway, the gist is you can still swing away with the game and all the DLC you got before. But after June 18th, nada. Zilch. New stuff is only for other platforms, it seems. Oh, and if you’re into multiplayer, heads up: that’s out the window January 21st, 2026. Funny how it took forever to get cross-play, and yet here we are, saying bye to it.
Meta, the overlord of Beat Games, is still showering love over their Quest platform. I mean, they’ve sold more than 10 million copies there. But hey, PC folks on Steam are still getting their share. And PlayStation? Well, looks like they’re getting the short end of the stick here.
It’s wild thinking about how Meta and Sony have this weird frenemy relationship. One minute they’re bringing Beat Saber to PSVR back in 2018, next thing they’re cutting the cord on updates. Classic case of “it’s not me, it’s you,” right? Meanwhile, PSVR 2 came along in 2023 with a bang, but then sort of fizzled out. Maybe Sony didn’t see it coming? Or maybe they did, but hey, glass half full and all that.
Oh, and in a strange twist, you can now use your PSVR 2 for PC VR games with this random wired adapter. And soon those PSVR 2 controllers will work with Apple Vision Pro. Kind of feels like they’re defying the whole console exclusive vibe. Anyway, what was I rambling about? Oh right, Beat Saber and its vanishing act from PlayStation. Curious to see what’s next on their playlist.
