ASRock’s doing something kinda wild at Computex, and I gotta say, it caught my eye. They’re throwing some new motherboards into the AMD AM5 scene, and this one called X870E Taichi OCF? It’s like the star of their show. Or maybe it’s just me being easily impressed. Anyway, let’s dive into this.
So, the Taichi OCF series… people really dig these for overclocking. It’s a bit of a shift ’cause they’ve been on Intel platforms, but now they’re switching gears with this first AM5 design. And what specs! I mean, we’re talking a 25-Phase design with these whopping 110A SPS power stages. Dual 8-pin connector config, which, I dunno why, just sounds cool. There are two DDR5 DIMM slots next to the CPU socket, and they can handle up to 128 GB RAM and speeds over 9000 MT/s. Like, seriously, who needs that much?
The I/O has a bunch of PCIe slots: two PCIe 5.0 x16, one PCIe 4.0 x4, and a bunch of M.2 options. Loads of spots for SSDs. USBs everywhere too—two USB4 Type-C, some USB 3.2 Gen2x2, and then your typical Type-C and Type-A stuff. There’s also some 5 GbE LAN, WIFI7 and, oh, they throw in this overclocking toolkit. Seems like they tossed everything in but the kitchen sink.
Design-wise, it’s rocking this gold and black theme, which I guess is iconic for the Taichi OCF series. The overclocking buttons are right by the DIMM slots for anyone feeling daring. Or reckless, maybe?
Then there’s the X870 Taichi Creator. This one’s calling to all those content creators out there. It’s like, “Hey, I’ve got a powerful 21 Phase 80A setup, four DDR5 slots, and I can hold up to 256 GB.” Plus, 15 USB ports! It’s bananas, right? And it’s got that sweet 10 GbE+5GbE LAN and WIFI7. A bit of everything—pretty much says, “Come get me, creators!”
And, oh, we can’t forget the X870 NOVA WIFI. A step down, maybe? Priced lower than its sibling, the X870E NOVA WIFI, so it’s great for mainstream builders, I guess. Expected to hit the $250-$300 mark, which feels kinda reasonable.
Lastly, there’s this tiny A620AI WIFI—an entry-level Mini-ITX deal with an 11-phase 80A setup. Dual DDR5 slots. It can go up to 8200+ MT/s speeds, if I read that right. Comes with a single PCIe 4.0 x16 slot, and the whole thing’s about $100. Maybe more info’s coming soon. Or not. We’ve all been there, waiting, right?
