Alright, so here we go. If you’re anything like me, the news about Resident Evil 9 has been hanging over your head like a cloud—one of those weird, ominous ones that you can’t stop looking at even though you probably should. People kept whispering about it at every gaming event, and every time… nothing. Felt like I was losing my mind. It was today, though—sort of a surprise twist you’d see in, well, a Resident Evil game.
So, today at the Summer Game Fest, Capcom—yeah, those folks—weaved in a little nugget about the next big thing in horror gaming. Jun Takeuchi popped up on screen, thanked us lot for sticking around (waited long enough, right?), and dropped the bomb that more info’s coming when they’re set. Most of us shrugged, thinking we’d get nada today—but that wasn’t the end. Oh no. Cue dramatic music.
Just when you thought you’d seen it all, bam! A trailer drops out of nowhere. It’s called Resident Evil Requiem and honestly gave me chills. Seriously, the kind that makes you wonder what you’re doing with your life that you want to voluntarily scare yourself. But check this — you can get your hands on it February 27, 2026. Mark your calendars or maybe tattoo it on your wrist? (Okay, maybe don’t do that.)
And apparently, Capcom was low-key hinting at it for a while. Subtlety level: expert. Like that time you think your friend’s dropping hints for a surprise party, but they’re just being cryptic for the fun of it. Bit cheeky if you ask me.
They’re saying this is a huge leap for the series. Although, if I’ve learned anything from rumors, it’s to take them with a grain of salt. Because sometimes you end up with salt in your eye—figuratively.
Oh, and before I wander off too much, we don’t know a whole lot yet. Some cryptic whispers about leaks and things that may or may not make it into the final cut. Capcom’s been around the block, though, so expect something epic to keep you up at night.
More of the juicy stuff will trickle out before its release next year, I’m sure. It’s shaping up for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. You know, all the usual suspects. Anyway—where was I? Oh, yes, something spooky this way comes. Keep your eyes peeled!
