Wow, so Meta and Microsoft just dropped this Quest 3S Xbox Edition. And it’s happening today, like right now. So, what’s the story here? Well, first off, don’t get too excited if you’re waiting for some mind-blowing Xbox VR headset. It’s not that. Basically, think of it as a fancy makeup session for the regular Quest 3S (the 128GB one) but with this whole Xbox vibe. You got it in Carbon Black and Velocity Green. No, seriously, it’s more than just a color change, I swear.
So, dig this—it’s priced at $399.99. What do you actually get? You’ve got a couple of Touch Plus controllers to mess around with in VR and MR. Plus, there’s an Xbox controller, but it’s like a special edition thing, along with an Elite Strap. Oh, and don’t forget the three-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Nice little package, right?
You see that picture up there? Courtesy of the Meta and Microsoft crew. Looks intense, doesn’t it?
Here’s the math if you bought this stuff separately: Quest 3S with controllers is about $299, the Elite Strap is $69, a standard Xbox controller hovers around $64, and that Game Pass for three months sets you back $60. Altogether, that’s roughly $490. Yeah, do I even need to do the rest of the math here?
But hang on, if you’ve got that Xbox controller already sitting on your couch and you’re hooked up with the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, do you really need this flashy Quest 3S edition? Maybe not. They’ve been rolling with the Xbox cloud gaming on Quest since late 2023, covering devices from Quest 2 onward. Yep, over 400 games are in the mix.
Oh! The Horizon+ subscription is tagging along too. Three months, normally priced at $8 monthly. You can grab 30+ Quest games like Asgard’s Wrath 2, Red Matter, and all those cool ones. Stay subscribed and they’re yours to keep.
And if you’re undecided, their big review on the Quest 3S is supposedly loaded with all the specs and juicy details.
This saga started last April at Connect 2024, and it looks like Meta’s got other tricks up their sleeve. They’re also working with ASUS Republic of Gamers and Lenovo to churn out new headsets. ASUS is all about performance, while Lenovo is thinking more on productivity and entertainment lines.
So, if you’re intrigued, run, don’t walk, to meta.com, or swing by Best Buy if you’re in the US. For those across the pond, Argos and EE are your go-tos. But hey, they’re in limited supply, so better snap ’em up before they vanish.
