Did you hear about Rebel Wolves’ new game? It’s called The Blood of Dawnwalker, and I’ve been eyeing it since, like, January 2025 or something. Yeah, that’s when they let the cat out of the bag. So, here’s the thing, it’s this open-world RPG—think monster hunting, complex choices, and all that jazz. Oh, and guess what? The developers used to work on The Witcher. No kidding, right? They’re aiming for a 2026 release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Anyway—or wait, was it then?—they just dropped over 20 minutes of gameplay footage. That’s the most we’ve seen so far.
Speaking of the gameplay footage—it’s over 21 minutes!—they showcased this one mid-game quest where the main dude, Coen, hears about some relic, apparently hidden in an old cathedral’s crypts. Sounds ominous, doesn’t it? Before he even gets to the cathedral, though, he’s out in the countryside. Cue a scrappy fight scene with bandits. It’s like sword fight heaven, with a combat system that lets you act like some blade-wizard, reading enemies’ moves and all.
And time, oh man, time’s a big deal in this game. Rebel Wolves aren’t treating it like your usual clock-running adventure. It’s more like a narrative sandbox where the main and side quests blend together. You have this time allocation to focus on whatever random activity catches your fancy, all while trying to save your family. And, uh, no pressure—well, actually, pressure—but it makes each playthrough unique, they say. Dang, the more I think about this concept, the cooler it seems.
Then there’s Coen’s night transformation. Dude’s a vampire when the sun goes down. Wild, right? But it’s a double-edged sword kind of deal. He can climb like a monkey (sort of), but his health goes vamp-hungry, so you gotta feed. But—here’s the kicker—you can either go the less murder-y route, feeding a bit, or, yeah, you guessed it, go full Dracula on someone. No feeding at all? Well, Coen might just lose it. Spooky stuff. Whether you do quests as a human or vampire really changes things up, too.
Anyway, it’s shaping up to be quite the game; at least, that’s what my gut tells me. I’m all in for this one. What do you think?
