Warner Bros, the entertainment powerhouse, has reportedly pulled the plug on an upcoming expansion for “Hogwarts Legacy.” According to Bloomberg, this expansion was initially slated to launch alongside a Definitive Edition of the Harry Potter-themed action RPG, promising to introduce fresh storylines.
The decision to cancel the project seems to have stemmed from the content’s perceived lack of value compared to the planned price tag. Both Avalanche Software, the original creators of the game, and Rocksteady were collaborating on this expansion. Interestingly, Avalanche is also said to be working on a sequel to the beloved Harry Potter game.
On a related note, Rocksteady has been in the news for its recent layoffs following the announcement that it will cease support for “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” in 2024.
Last year, Warner Bros admitted that its gaming division was not performing as well as expected. In a significant move, the company took a $200 million financial hit by writing off the costs associated with “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.” Moreover, Warner Bros has recently shuttered three of its studios, including Monolith, and has seen the departure of its long-standing leader, David Haddad.
