So, here we go—Assetto Corsa EVO, right? It kinda crashed onto the scene in early access earlier this year, and let’s just say, if you were hoping for a VR masterpiece, hmm, not really. I mean, the optimization was… questionable. I’m being nice here. But hey, good news, the developer KUNOS Simulazioni is back with a 0.2 update, and it brings some tweaks for VR. Maybe it’ll make all those fancy headsets less of a decor piece.
Ah, the new 0.2 update! It’s like a toy store exploded—seven cars just rolled in! We’re talking cute road racers like the Maserati GT2, Lotus Exige V6 Cup, and a bunch of others. Oh, and two tracks: Circuit of the Americas and Donington Park. As if I’ll ever drive on those in real life, but it’s a nice fantasy.
The game’s now all like, “Hey, play with all the cars you want in Open Mode!” Or if you’re feeling ambitious, there’s Career Mode. Economy stuff and progression are in there too, because we all need more virtual achievements, right?
So back to VR—version two or step two? Whatever. They’re trying to make VR more tolerable. Graphics now have a slight polish. Stuff like VR TV cameras, dynamic mirrors, and wow, DLSS is a thing now. There’s even… new grass? No clue why I noticed that, but there you go. Oh, and apparently, the black horizon glitch got kicked out. Yay glitch-free horizons!
Switching to VR doesn’t mess with DLSS anymore—or at least that’s the claim. I mean, moving from flatscreen to VR without drama? Bold move, KUNOS.
Okay, let’s get real. If you’re playing this on PC VR, I hope you have a beast of a rig. It’s getting better, I think? Check out those before-and-after pictures, if you’re into that sort of comparison thing—shoutout to ‘HYPEVR TV’ for those.
And, looking ahead, there are six more updates on the horizon before the big 1.0 release in Fall 2025. Fingers crossed these updates make the VR experience actually worth the $32. Well, here’s hoping, right?
